It’s Greek Food Festival Season!
Cue the lines around the block to get first dibs on traditional delicacies such as Gyro, Moussaka, Spanakopita, Souvlaki, Baklava and more – most of which are (absolutely delicious) and also chock-full of butter, flaky pastry and nuts. I know how hard it can be to navigate having food allergies or dietary restrictions at one of these festivals – most of the food is home-made, so getting an ingredients list is next-to-impossible, and cross-contamination is inevitable – but I don’t want you to miss out on those delicious flavors.
So, I’ve rounded up my favorite easy, Greek-Food-Fest-inspired dishes that you can make at home. (I have not found a gluten-free Phyllo dough that comes close to the real thing, but as soon as I do, a gluten-free spanakopita is first on my list).
Below, you’ll find links to recipes for Spanakopita Meatballs, Lemon Orzo “Risotto,” Grilled Greek Chicken, Lamb Burgers with Vegan Tzatziki, Gluten-Free Rice Pilaf, Greek Potatoes and Greek Moussaka.
Enjoy!
